I don’t want to use a non-mobile option to upload an avatar.... I’ve reached a phase in my caching where I have more than one OM profile pic to use but I play these shenanigans via mobile device. Does that make me lesser? If so why? Why would an era of caching 10 years ago be better than now? And if that’s the case why would a forum be the way to celebrate? I barely know what a forum is.

There will always be an differences in opinions towards various media types.
In my humble opinion, I find forums a better place to tell the stories or to get resources to learn than Facebook for example. The Facebook newsfeed or group pages is just a constant stream of information, but it is hard to go back and find that questions or post from a day ago. This leads to many of the same things over and over... How do I start? How do I hide a cache? What is a TB?
A forum format helps to take these questions and turn them into discussions that join the archive of knowledge over time. Geocaching also has a natural feeling of a forum in the logs and cache pages.
As for the avatar issues, that is out of my hands at the moment. You can try to change to 'desktop view' in the bottom right corner on mobile. This layout isn't my normal software type, but was available to use to set up this forum. Once we have some more activity and members, I will be trying to get it moved to our modern software which is much more mobile friendly. I was restricted only by the resources available when I set this up.

Changing to desktop view solved my problem! I hadn’t even noticed that. Thank you! I honestly loath Facebook geocaching and I am excited and looking forward to being a part of a small forum to participate in occasionally.

I honestly loath Facebook geocaching and I am excited and looking forward to being a part of a small forum to participate in occasionally. One of my longer term goals is to make this as big (or bigger) than some of the larger geocaching facebook groups like the "Geocaching 101" or "Worldwide Geocaching" groups. However, I also understand that each of these groups and media platforms have their own purpose and following so for now I am only focusing on getting this forum started and starting to get the discussions going. The best forums grow organically. The more topics, the more people want to discuss... the more discussions, the more they invite others to join... If it is forced, it will likely fail because no one will stick around.
